A price scanner in your pocket…

(It took me 9 tries to get the image above. The app is so fast at scanning and loading information that I could barely get a screen capture of it zeroing in on the UPC code)

This application is AMAZING! Essentially all you need to do is pick up any item with a UPC code, click on the button to start the scanner, and line up the green lines as close as possible to the code. In a matter of seconds the Red Laser application has already identified the code and is off searching for item prices.

At first I assumed this application would only work on the iPhone 3GS due to a need for auto-focus. In order to test this theory I decided to load Red Laser on my wife’s older 3G and it worked without the need of focusing on the UPC code.

I have happily saved money on items that I was going to purchase. One quick swipe of Red Laser and I found out quickly that I could get the same item, online, for much less.

These is great for teachers out looking for classroom books and lesson materials.

How soon will it be until stores ban customers from using this app while walking around their aisles?
