Scattered throughout our house are the wooden shape puzzles that my son has accumulated over the past 2 years. These are the wooden puzzles that have independent shapes that need matching or pieces that need to be put together to form a full image. He loves playing with these little puzzles and he also sometimes leaves the pieces scattered in unlikely places. I manage to find those places in the middle of the night when I step on them!
Lucky for me I found something for when we are out and about that replicates the experience of playing with these puzzle games! The name of the application is “Shape Builder” from Touchscreen Preschool Games.
Immediately my son was able to locate and move the pieces into position. The audio quality is fantastic, the application is stable, and the variety of puzzle types kept my son engaged and entertained. Together we worked on completing the puzzles and saying out loud what the images were. I was quite impressed with the letter images. After the letter is said the letter sound is mentioned too!
Instead of describing the game in detail I have made a video…

“Shape Builder
Shape Builder educates and entertains your little one with easy to move shapes that snap into place on top of siloutte puzzles. Each puzzle has 5 to 10 pieces and after positioning all of the pieces, the real image is revealed along with a professional voice recording of the word spoken by Jill Dews, a licensed speech therapist. Shape Builder encourages cognitive thinking and fine motor skills plus exposes young minds to new music instruments, animals, produce, objects and the alphabet in a fun and engaging format with LOTS of sound effects!”

“Shape Builder” gets an edu.Mac.nation daddy score of A from me!
