On Saturday I will be at the New York State Associations for Computers and Technologies in Education (NYSCATE) 7th Annual Hudson Valley Conference in Wappingers Falls, N.Y.
I look forward to meeting up with some other Mac users while there! I hope to possibly do some quick interviews with anyone who is interested in sharing how they use Apple software (iLife/iWork) or hardware (iPod’s/iPod Touch) with their students. It would be great to learn about local classroom projects and activities!
Here are the sessions that I plan on attending…
8:00-9:00

This curriculum uses the UBD (Understanding by Design) template and NYS Core Content as its foundation. All materials are available online, and the curriculum is “living” in that it is revisited every year and enhanced and refined on a continual basis.
1:00- 2:00
Technology Integration in the Special Education Classroom

Applying Lego Robotics to Ignite Interest in Science and Technology
The Hudson Valley FIRST Lego League has grown to serve over 1,000 students in a 6 county area, and has become institutionalized in leading districts such as Arlington, Mahopac, and Wappingers Falls. An officially sanctioned part of international FIRST Lego League, this program has been proven to impact students ages 6-14 by encouraging their interest in science, math, engineering, and technology. Participants will learn how to become a part of Lego League, or how to enhance a program already in place. We’ll present practical advice: program costs, benefits you can expect, how to get support, and how to get involved with the 5 local tournaments which annually send top teams to Atlanta, GA for the World Expo.
As you can see it is a pretty diverse set of sessions that I selected to match up with what I have in my own school (all PC’s).
So if you see this guy (me)…
… come on over and say hey!
